Member Benefits
As a UECC Member, you receive a monthly stipend while serving, as well as a monetary scholarship upon completion of your service contract. The award can be used at any time for up to seven years.
Academic Assistance
Tutor 10 students in language arts, mathematics or algebra during school hours. Tutoring takes place in the students’ classrooms under teacher supervision so you can work with teachers to identify the students’ needs in these subjects. Tutoring topics and materials correspond with California Standards.
After School and Summer Programs
Help provide a place for kids to go after school and in the summer. Work at one of four community centers offering homework assistance, computer and health education, and recreational activities to approximately 150 kids during the school year. Hours are 3 to 7 p.m., Monday-Friday. The centers’ summer program services last until mid-August. Activities focus on team sports and other recreational activities. Summer program hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
